Lovers Leap My JAMAICA TOUR — THROUGH THE EYES OF YOUR DESTINATION MANAGER An Authentic Tour of the Real Jamaica
Montego Bay, May 2, 2009 — Tour the other side of Jamaica and experience the “native life”. Explore the many villages, towns and farming communities within the interior and Southern Coast of this beautiful country. The journey departs from Montego traveling through the mountains where quaint British names will pique your interest as you approach a variety of different villages and sites such as Anchovy’s Old Train Station and Montpelier’s beautiful roving acres of orange groves and 100-year-old historic Anglican Church. Visitors will discover sites such as old soldiers’ barracks built by Cubans and once home to Haitian refugees and the popular Blue Hole property, famous not only for its beauty and tranquility but also for its natural mineral spring. Other sites include the town of New Market, the famous and beautifully restored Woodstock Great House and Middle Quarters, where guests will flavor local cuisine such as “pepper swimps” or peppered shrimps. In addition, sightseers will visit the world-famous YS Falls, Black River, one of the oldest towns in Jamaica and home to the protected species, the Jamaican Crocodile, as well as Treasure Beach, a growing seaside community. Another stop on the tour is St. Elizabeth, the “bread basket” of Jamaica, which supplies a variety of produce through increasingly greenhouse farming initiatives and where guests will have the opportunity to explore the area and learn the captivating history of the community. “Lovers Leap” is the next site and offers a spectacular view of the Caribbean and a fascinating story behind its name. The last stop includes a walk through Southfield and Top Hill and will bring guests and locals together during an afternoon spent in the home of one of Jamaica’s famous Bankers, Aubyn Hill, an entrepreneur and a budding farmer, before returning to Montego Bay.
